Our Commitments

Proudly B Corp certified

Harnessing the power of our business as a force for good

We are proud that The Furniture Practice is B Corp certified, cementing our commitment to working with our clients, project teams, manufacturers and the entire TFP team to help shape a more sustainable and equitable future for our industry and beyond. Over 6,000 visionary businesses across more than 80 countries have now joined the B Corp community, legally committing to balancing purpose and profit and using business as a force for good.

Having begun the journey to B Corp certification in October 2021, we are excited to have reached this milestone on our mission to progress our business sustainability goals. B Corp certification is a substantial addition to the commitments we have already made in our journey to improvement: we are a Climate Positive Workforce through Ecologi and have joined the Race to Zero through Planet Mark, committing to net zero emissions by 2040.

Environmental

Improving the environmental performance of furniture projects

We have been actively reducing our carbon emissions since 2014 and are proud to have held our ISO 14001 environmental management certification since 2015. We’re now working even harder to reach our goal of being carbon neutral across all TFP operations by 2025, and net zero emissions by 2040. Beyond our own operations, we have worked extensively with project teams to successfully fulfil environmental accreditations and targets such as BREEAM, WELL, LEED and Net Zero Carbon. Our team is trained to help you understand and improve the environmental performance of your project – from carbon tracking of furniture options to full lifecycle stewardship of your furniture.

Innovation

Furniture solutions for the circular economy

We recognise that businesses today are making commitments to reduce their carbon impact. We are well-positioned to help you make informed selections that can help drive positive change within the wider furniture industry. Working closely with our vast supply chain, we're evolving with the tools and systems needed to develop low-carbon solutions that promote circularity in our industry. We're actively working towards measuring the carbon impact of furniture projects, so we can use data-based evidence to help businesses, designers, and project teams make the most sustainable choices.

Partnerships and Initiatives

UKGBC - Gold Leaf Members

We want to minimise our impact on the environment and make a difference fast, and we believe the best way to do that is through collective action. That's why we are UKGBC Gold Leaf members – the industry-led network on a mission to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment. We're also committed to the Race to Zero, an UN-backed global campaign to take rigorous and immediate action to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and deliver a healthier, fairer world.

Planet Mark Sustainability Certification since 2014

As Planet Mark members, we're committed to building a sustainable future and reducing our carbon footprint year-on-year. We have joined the UN-backed Race to Zero and are targeting net zero emissions by 2040. We've worked hard to implement changes in our offices and across business practices and continually assess our operations to understand how we can make further improvements that positively impact people and the planet. Through Planet Mark, we've protected over an acre of Peru's rainforest thanks to Cool Earth, an NGO that works alongside rainforest communities to end deforestation.

Giving back

We're committed to building a better society, and one of the ways we do this is through fundraising. Every year we support local and national charities that mean a lot to us with events and activities coordinated by our team of charity champions. We've run marathons, climbed mountains, walked, cycled and hosted bake-offs and art auctions to raise funds for various amazing causes, including Cancer Research UK, Magic Breakfast, St Luke's Community Centre, The Mustard Tree and more.
