The Gessner
Developed by Way of Life and designed by Fettle Design Studio, the brief for The Gessner was to bring an exclusive members club experience to private rented space in the heart of Tottenham Hale.

An eclectic look for contemporary living
Working closely with the client and designers, we developed a high-quality, cost-effective specification, utilising TFP’s bespoke design service across most pieces to achieve a refined, vintage-inspired aesthetic unique to The Gessner. Managing the bespoke design process from start to finish, we provided concept designs, technical drawings, prototypes and mock-ups to aid the decision-making process and liaised with factories to maintain the strong design intent while working within a strict budget.
Maximising space and achieving a tailored aesthetic were critical criteria within the brief — we helped the design team achieve this through carefully considered space plans and comprehensive management of furniture layouts.
What we found really impressive about The Furniture Practice and the team is their design literacy. It was really important for us to work with someone who understood the design integrity and authenticity we are trying to bring to The Gessner.
Delivering against all odds
Delivery of the project was affected by restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We quickly evolved our process with new ways of working, hosting virtual meetings with the client team and designers and bringing our logistics team up to speed on stringent new rules and regulations for delivery and installation on site. Crucially, we maintained a robust dialogue with manufacturers and factory partners to pre-empt and solve any potential problems relating to lead times and lockdowns, allowing us to deliver the project within the agreed timeframe.
