Square Gardens is a landmark residential development within Manchester’s First Street district, delivering over 2,000 new apartments across three buildings three buildings. Designed as a vibrant, community-focused neighbourhood, the scheme brings together extensive gardens, generous outdoor space and a mix of social, wellness and co-working settings that support contemporary urban living.
Working closely with interior designers KKA, we curated and delivered a cohesive furniture package that reflects the development’s vision, creating warm, grounded and social environments that encourage residents to connect, work, relax and spend time together.
Working closely with KKA and Downing, we shaped the furniture direction for each amenity environment, selecting pieces that align with the ‘Grounded’ design concept while supporting long-term durability, comfort and operational performance.
The palette draws on natural materials, soft silhouettes and warm tones. Lounge areas feature layered seating compositions to encourage informal gathering, while co-working zones combine focused workstations, shared benches and flexible tables to support both independent and collaborative working. Across wellness, screening and social spaces, the furniture maintains a hospitality-led feel, balancing comfort and practicality for everyday resident use.
Delivering amenity spaces across three large buildings required tight coordination, phased logistics and continual alignment with the construction and fit-out programme. We worked with Downing and KKA to refine specifications, review technical requirements and ensure the furniture solutions met both the design intent and operational needs.
Our role spanned procurement, logistics and installation, ensuring furniture packages were delivered consistently across all buildings and in line with project sequencing. We supported the fit-out teams to resolve site-specific details and ensure a smooth installation programme.
