The LEGO Group’s 157,000 sq ft Boston Hub brings together more than 800 colleagues in a world-class workspace designed to champion creativity, innovation and collaboration. Located in Back Bay, the six-floor headquarters by BDG architecture + design reimagines The LEGO Group’s identity through colour and play. As the appointed furniture partner, we worked closely with The LEGO Group, BDG and the wider project team from early design development through procurement, coordination and installation, ensuring the furniture reflected The LEGO Group’s heritage, design preferences and people-centred culture.

The LEGO Group aimed to create a workplace that feels fun, uplifting and unmistakably theirs. BDG’s concept mirrors how LEGO® bricks interlock, with each floor designed as a modular component defined by its own colour identity. This use of colour creates a narrative and wayfinding tool while maintaining a professional, sophisticated tone across work, collaboration and social areas.

Architectural details – including a spiral stair wrapped in tubular acoustic felt and circular motifs referencing LEGO®’s stud-and-tube geometry – reinforce this sense of play in an elevated way.

The hub spans a wide mix of spaces – from open work floors, collaboration zones and enclosed meeting rooms to social hubs, a barista bar, wellness and mothers’ rooms, gaming spaces, a creative play lab and a seventh-floor showroom – creating a workplace that supports both focused work and creative exploration.

We worked with BDG and The LEGO Group team to shape the furniture direction for each level, curating floor-specific packages with colour and finish variations that complement the design narrative. Neutral palettes support focus areas, while stronger tones and richer textures reinforce the character of highenergy collaborative settings. Scandinavian influence was important to The LEGO Group, and together with BDG we coordinated more than 40 European manufacturers alongside US suppliers to meet their design expectations.

Key pieces include the modular BOB Sofa by Scandinavian Spaces, used throughout for its playful form and flexibility; Holmris benching, colourcoordinated per floor; Framery acoustic booths for privacy; and Bisley lockers in bespoke finishes aligned with each level’s palette.

Technical detailing played a significant role in supporting The LEGO Group’s creative ways of working. Working closely with BDG and The LEGO Group team, we delivered bespoke solutions that responded directly to how spaces would be used. These included custom grommets for meeting tables designed to support hands-on LEGO play during workshops and team sessions. Through workshops, mock-ups and detailed reviews, furniture elements were tested and refined to ensure comfort, technical performance and long-term durability.

Sustainability was a central priority. Alongside meeting and exceeding The LEGO Group’s LEED Gold targets, we developed a bespoke sustainability charter with the project team that went beyond certification - emphasising circular design principles, low-carbon materials and high recycled-content fabrics. A whole-life carbon analysis across major furniture categories informed decisions and ensured full transparency across the specification.

Delivering a project of this scale required close coordination across time zones, teams and supply chains. We oversaw the end-to-end procurement process, coordinating international supply chains and sequencing deliveries across six floors to align with construction and fit-out stages. Working with manufacturers across Europe and the US, we resolved technical details, ensured compliance with local regulations and adapted systems where required - including integrated power solutions for benching and coordination with MEP and GC teams.

Every detail of the Boston Hub embodies The LEGO Group’s culture - creative, inclusive and full of life. From the LEGO®-yellow barista bar and the seventhfloor showroom to dedicated wellness spaces and a gaming area, every space was designed to inspire connection and imagination. We’re proud to have helped create a workplace that brings The LEGO Group’s brand to life in three dimensions - a space that is as joyful and forward-thinking as the company itself.
