After deciding to bring its three Mayfair offices under one roof, London-based law firm Forsters moved to the heart of Marylebone in early 2024. Working with interior architects ID:SR, Forsters set out to create a modern, adaptable workplace that supports cross-firm connection, employee wellbeing and a high-quality client experience. We partnered with the Forsters project team and ID:SR to shape and deliver a forward-thinking furniture strategy that aligned with the project vision.

As workplaces increasingly adopt more flexible ways of working, Forsters recognised the need to future-proof its space and support new behaviours through thoughtful, innovative design. Spanning six floors, the office brings together a range of environments, including meeting rooms, collaboration zones, open-plan workspaces and an outdoor terrace.

We worked closely with business stakeholders to understand the functional needs of each setting, from client-facing lounges to tech-enabled podcast rooms. The final scheme reflects a timeless, high-performing workplace shaped through thoughtful furniture choices, flexible solutions and a strong commitment to sustainability. Every decision balanced design intent, user needs and environmental impact to support Forsters’ long-term vision.

Forsters’ HQ prioritises responsible design, reusing task chairs and selecting products with high recycled content. Every item was reviewed against BREEAM Excellent standards to reduce environmental impact and support long-term sustainability goals.

Carefully selected furniture in neutral earth tones meets Forsters’ everyday needs while preserving the integrity of ID:SR’s design intent. High-quality finishes such as marble, Fenix and velvet elevate client-facing areas and ensure an efficient use of budget that reflects the firm’s prestigious identity.

A quarter of the desks are sit-stand, with the remainder easily upgraded from fixed height to electronic adjustment using minimal components. Smart lockers support hot-desking, while close collaboration with the AV consultant enabled the creation of bespoke, tech-enabled pieces suited to the varied nature of Forsters’ work.

The HQ blends flexibility and technology, combining adaptable desks, smart storage and bespoke AV-integrated furniture. Every space is designed to support evolving work patterns, seamless collaboration and the practical needs of a modern legal team.

Sustainability targets shaped every aspect of the selection process. Working alongside the project’s sustainability consultant, we analysed all products to meet BREEAM Excellent standards. A key decision was to reuse task chairs from Forsters’ previous sites, reducing the scheme’s environmental impact. This was strengthened by choosing new furniture with high levels of recycled and recyclable materials.
