When global legal firm Ashurst moved to the iconic London Fruit & Wool Exchange, it set out to create a headquarters that reflected its heritage while supporting a modern, collaborative way of working. Designed by ID:SR, the workspace reimagines the building’s historic character with a refined, contemporary aesthetic. We were appointed as furniture consultant to develop and deliver a furniture strategy that complements the architectural vision and elevates the experience for staff and clients.

Set across seven floors, the firm’s home is designed for collaboration and connection. A mix of flexible workspaces, meeting rooms, breakout areas, event space and a generous reception area continues to support both staff and client experience. Throughout, old and new materials are interwoven — handcrafted and industrial details sit comfortably alongside one another, reflecting the site’s past and the dynamism of the development.

We worked closely with the Ashurst team and key stakeholders to define their ambitions and develop a furniture package that enhanced the building’s characterful spaces. Our focus was on high-quality, contemporary pieces in warm neutral tones that complemented the architectural palette and delivered a workspace that feels refined, understated and highly functional.

Through a series of workshops, one-to-ones and full furniture mock-ups, we enabled stakeholders to test and experience products in person, an approach that ensured alignment on aesthetics, comfort, performance and budget. The result is a workplace that balances professionalism with warmth — a space that reflects Ashurst’s heritage, supports its evolving ways of working and offers an elevated experience for both clients and colleagues.
