Meet our Build to Rent team

TFP’s Built To Rent (BTR) team has seen rapid growth over the last year, establishing itself as a leader in delivering projects of all scales in the Private Rented Sector. The five that make up the team have successfully completed a number of BTR projects recently, including L&G’s Blackhorse Mills in Walthamstow and Box Maker’s Yard in Bristol, The Collective’s Dome Apartments in Notting Hill, and have several exciting schemes launching in Spring and later this year. Here the team talk about their roles, what’s special about our BTR offering, and what they’ve been up to in lockdown.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the BTR team –

Emma: I studied Fashion Design at the University of Leeds and joined TFP pretty much straight after graduating in 2013. As Head of BTR my role consists of running and directing all major BTR projects, as well as overseeing the whole department.

Calum: Originally from Portsmouth, I studied at Loughborough University having gained a Master’s in Exercise Physiology. This was quickly ditched as I realised my true calling of a Furniture Project Manager, joining TFP in early 2018. I have been the BTR team’s dedicated Project Manager for 18 months now.

Michela: I was born and raised in Switzerland and studied Interior Architecture at the University of Art and Design in Geneva. I joined TFP in the summer of 2019, so luckily I was able to experience the fun TFP culture before the lockdown hit! I am a Senior Account Manager in the BTR team.

Rosie: Born and bred Londoner, I studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton and jumped directly into the contract furniture industry upon my return to London. I am an Account Manager in the BTR team.

Zainab: Having grown up in Clifton, Nottingham, I moved to the Big Smoke with my family at age 11, later going on to study a BA (Hons) in Architecture at the University of Westminster. As TFP Designer, I put our client’s brief and vision to paper and space plan solutions, whilst delivering an innovative and design-led concept. With my background being in Architecture, I’m always trying to push boundaries and make the best practical use of the space.

What’s unique about TFP’s BTR offering?

Emma: By combining 24 years’ experience in the commercial and hospitality sectors TFP are able to offer clients the opportunity to buy both branded, recognisable designs, as well as white-label goods direct from factories all over the world. This allows a diverse access to FF+E procurement, whilst still achieving budget goals.

Calum: Obviously the Project Management department…! In all seriousness, having a dedicated Project Manager working solely within the BTR team with the expertise and best knowledge of the sector is fundamental to the successful delivery of these projects.

Michela: We are able to offer a complete service from the initial brief all the way to project completion and beyond, coupled with a full interior design service thanks to our in-house designer, Zainab.

Rosie: Echoing Emma a little, having the ability to source bespoke products to truly capture the design of each individual project really adds to our already extensive furniture procurement offering.

Zainab: We source furniture with recyclability and sustainability always in mind; driving an optimal product lifespan and ensuring TFP are doing our bit in contributing to a greener future in design.

My favourite furniture brand/designer is…

Emma: &Tradition

Calum: Walter Knoll

Michela: Tough decision, right now Carl Hansen I think!

Rosie: It’s hard to choose just one! Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec or Jaime Hayon…or Patricia Urquiola!

Zainab: Currently, mine is Kartell

The highlight of lockdown for me is…

Emma: My dog Twiggy! The best lockdown acquisition.

Calum: Spending more time with my lovely girlfriend.

Michela: Still staying connected with my family abroad whilst not being able to travel to see them as often as I normally would.

Rosie: My supper club…and also the shortest commute I’ve ever had!

Zainab: Definitely growing my plant family and perfecting my cheese scone recipe.
