We’re taking on the Hackney Half!

Each year, our team takes part in a sports event to raise funds for a chosen charity. To date, we have taken part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon, Prudential Ride London, Tough Mudder and the London Marathon. This year we’re taking on the Hackney Half Marathon!

On April 30th, we’ll be running 13.1 miles through the streets of East London to raise funds for Friends of Chernobyl’s Children – a fantastic charity dedicated to providing much-needed respite to children affected by the Chernobyl disaster of 1986.

FOCC are a very small and totally independent charity, whose purpose is to raise funds to give impoverished children still affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster the chance to build their shattered immune systems, to help fight the cancers and illnesses associated with radiation and poverty.  The children attend a set programme for 4-5 years; they travel to the UK for 1 month every year to stay with caring host families who provide them with love, nourishment and the chance to be a child. The children attend a ‘school/play scheme’ and take part in lots of exciting activities for the month, and see a GP, Optician and Dentist. When their month is finished, they go home with enough vitamins until their next visit and with bulging bags of clothes and gifts for their family in Belarus.
